Community Watch 08/09

Spring is in the air in the World of Nyn. Today, we take a break from smelling the flowers and slaying the Twilight beasties to bring you the latest installment of the Community Watch. Our normally biweekly newsletter got the day off last week, so without further ado let’s have a look around the latest BattleForge Happenings from the past three weeks.
We have had two big patches in the past 2 weeks that have also included the first content expansions. We have unleashed our Skylords on two new maps: Yrimia, a 1v1 PvP map, and the PvE Renegade campaign. Although the patches were not exclusive to the maps, there were a bunch of updates! (PVP Update and PvE Update)
Our Forge screenshot contest came to a close. We received hundreds of great submissions that ran the gamut from wacky and hilarious to just plain awesomeness. We put the vote up to our people on Facebook to determine who the best Forge-tographer was. The community tapped Damian S. of Poland on the shoulder for his Nature Glow submission. All finalists receive a very special BattleForge prize package. Thank you to everyone who took part!
BattleForge is on Steam! BattleForge is now available for purchase via the popular online distributor Steam. Steam enables customers to download and re-download their purchases to any computer. It also features an interactive community with instant messenger. With Steam you can get to know other Skylords and even see when they are online. We highly recommend everyone to buy BattleForge and BattleForge Points exclusively from serious and well-known sources, e.g. EA Store, Amazon, Steam or Direct2Drive to avoid being betrayed by credit card cheaters!
Now hitting the electronic newsstands is the new BattleForge magazine. The eye-popping, interactive PDF features everything you needed to know about BattleForge, and also includes great features like an interview with Phenomic Creative Director Volker Wertich. A must read for anyone new to the game.
Speaking of noobs- we were also happy to release the first part of a series titled BattleForge for Beginners from industry staple and writer Richard Hagon. Richard has been a life-long gamer and was so kind to document his first forays as a Skylord. Richard’s piece is a very funny read that functions as a great guide for other beginners.
The official BattleForge manual was made available for download. You can download the guide to Nyn as a PDF in English, German, French, or Russian.
But there are also a lot of happenings in our beloved eSports-scene. The ESL recently finished their 2on2 Opening cup with a total of 112 participants and their shadow theme cup was also filled well with a total of 40 players. All replays and the tourney grids can be checked out here.
By the way, now as we are talking about E-Sports and competitive gaming, every now and then we receive feedback about the balance of some cards. It is very difficult for us to balance some cards after release because we are aware of the fact that players paid real money for these cards. To avoid these problems we decided to launch an official BattleForge watch list where we announce every single card that might be adjusted in the future. For this reason, we collect your feedback in special watch list topics, so that you are warned early and have the chance to give your feedback on these cards.
Yesterday, the ESL hosted a show match between the German and the Russian champion, Feagul and Gluk. Feagul achieved to defeat Gluk in 3 successful games - the details and replays about this exciting encounter can be found here.
For anyone out there who wants to crunch the numbers for their PvP battles, a BattleForge user in France has put together this neat website.
A new russian Website launched these days, take a look at their page, but please keep in mind, that it is written cyrillic.
BFCards.info updated their website again with a bunch of new features:
- PVE Map overviews
- Map Detailviews
- Strategy guides
- Loot overviews
Additionally they localized their whole database to polish!
